Istanbul Jazz Festival

My guide Last update 1 year ago
The Istanbul Jazz Festival has a surprisingly varied programme each year. In 2009, it was the 16th edition, and during the previous events, big artists were on stage, like Norah Jones, Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin), Algiers Brass Band and the Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra. The festival tries to leave the road of pure Jazz and to promote music in a broader perspective. That's the reason why you'll hear music which can be better described as 'world music' than as jazz. Nevertheless, the quality of the music is kept high! The stages can be found in museums, open-air theatres or in cosy jazz clubs.
