Bairro Alto

This hip area is undoubtedly the nicest area in Lisbon. The appealing narrow streets are home to all sorts of restaurants, shops, bars and clubs. Thanks to this, the streets are always abuzz at night. A number of bars are recommended: fadobar Tasco do Chico, Mahjong and the gaybar Portas Largas. Fighting your way through the crowds can be a bit daunting, but it's definitely worth the effort. The melting pot of locals, tourists and students here guarantees a fun night out. Bouncers and cover charges are unheard of, and everyone is welcome. It's just one big party!
