The Museum of London and the Docklands Museum jointly present the history of the English capital. The oldest archaeological find dates back to 300,000 BC, the dawn of London's prehistory. The journey begins in Roman Londinium and ends in Medieval London, with the museum making clever use of sound effects and images throughout. A variety of objects, clothing, photos and images combine to portray London's history. The museum has a number of permanent exhibitions, including one about the Great Fire of London (1666), and temporary exhibitions. Events are also regularly held at the museum.
