Ter hoogte van de beroemde Royal Mile huist het controversi\u00eble parlement van Schotland. Gevormd uit een mix van staal, houtwerk en graniet, is dit moderne complex \u00e9\u00e9n van de meest innovatieve creaties in de hedendaagse Britse architectuur. Enric Miralles haalde voor zijn ontwerp inspiratie uit het fascinerende Schotse landschap, de bloem schilderingen van Charles Rennie Machintosh en de dobberende bootjes in de jachthaven. De meningen over het design bouwwerk blijven verdeeld. Sommige inwoners beschouwen het pand als een rijk architectonisch bezit en anderen vinden het scheepsvormige gevaarte een doorn in het oog.
