Bassetts Ice Cream bestaat sinds 1861 en is daarmee meer dan 150 jaar actief. Na vijf generaties is het bedrijf nog steeds in handen van de familie Bassett. De winkel staat na al deze jaren nog steeds op dezelfde plek en gebruikt dezelfde marmeren toonbank. Een van de meest speciale gebeurtenissen is het bezoek van President Barack Obama in 2010! Hij heeft toen onder andere kennisgemaakt met Michael Strange, de president van Bassetts en Roger Bassett serveerde hem de \u201cmint chocolate chip ice cream\u201d!
