Hij is namelijk volledig van hout gemaakt. Het is de hoogste en grootste houten kerk in Zuid-Amerika. De kathedraal werd gebouwd in het laatste deel van de achttiende eeuw. Nadat het gebouw bijna instortte als gevolg van een verkeerde ingreep bij de renovatie, werd het om veiligheidsredenen in 1979 voor het publiek gesloten. In de jaren &rsquo;90 stelde het Vaticaan geld ter beschikking om het gebouw te redden. Nu is het kathedraal weer toegankelijk voor publiek. Deze eyecatcher van Paramaribo mag je niet missen!
