Nadat de werkplaats naar de kolenmijn Zollverein was verhuisd, werd deze tientallen jaren op verschillende manieren gebruikt. De in Seoul geboren keramiekkunstenaar Young-Jae Lee nam in 1986 de leiding van de werkplaats over. De formele basisprincipes van het Bauhaus zijn de basis van de ontwerpen en de constructie van de keramiek.
