{"id":7704,"date":"2015-03-25T14:08:01","date_gmt":"2015-03-25T13:08:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cityzapper.com\/tip\/dag-der-marrons\/"},"modified":"2026-09-18T03:05:24","modified_gmt":"2026-09-18T01:05:24","slug":"dag-der-marrons-paramaribo","status":"publish","type":"tip","link":"https:\/\/www.cityzapper.com\/nl\/paramaribo\/dag-der-marrons-paramaribo\/","title":{"rendered":"Dag der Marrons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Op 10 oktober wordt de Dag van de Marrons gevierd, &eacute;&eacute;n van de bevolkingsgroepen van Suriname. <\/strong>Marrons zijn afstammelingen van de Afrikanen die door slavenhalers onder dwang naar Suriname zijn gebracht. In Suriname vluchtten ze naar de bossen om daar te gaan wonen en te strijden tegen de slavernij. Marrons worden in de volksmond daarom ook wel eens &#39;bosnegers&#39; genoemd. Op de Dag van de Marrons herdenkt deze bevolkingsgroep de succesvolle strijd van hun voorouders tegen de onderdrukking en voor de vrijheid. In 2009 werd bekend dat de Dag van de Marrons een nationale vrije dag werd in Suriname en in 2010 werd het zelfs een nationale feestdag.
