The Silver Skate Festival brings together art, culture, recreation and sports! This is Edmonton’s oldest winter festival and entry is free. It makes for an ideal outing with the entire family. You can walk in the snow whilst taking in the festival’s ice sculptures, you can warm up by sweeping a broom at the Jam-Can Curling rink or perhaps you’d like to cheer on the skaters at the festival’s ‘Kortebaan’ (pronounced “court-te-ban”) which is a traditional Dutch speed-skating sprint race. But you can also join in the fun by getting your skates on so that you can skate on the festival’s magical Silver Skate Folk trails. Enjoy live entertainment as the so-called Night Works kick off at sunset. The Silver Skate Festival offers numerous sports activities and shows that can be enjoyed and should not be missed if you happen to find yourself in Edmonton during this event!
