The Madrid Vallecas district honours their patron saint, Virgen del Carmen, with a lively water battle!A thousand locals are dressed as pirates, monsters or as a saint, and engage in a fight with other people. They use water hoses and super soakers; everything holding water! Don't be surprised if suddenly someone throws a bucket of water over your head. Lucky, this festival takes place in the summer, because it is impossible to leave without getting wet. In the end, there is a big festival with enormous paella pans, performances by local artists, and DJs playing a smashing after-party.
