When the sun has taken its rightful place high in the skies and temperatures have risen above 20 degrees (70 degrees for Fahrenheit lovers), this is when Ghent celebrates summer with the Gentse Feesten (Ghent Festival). The festival is known as Belgium’s largest public festival as well as one of Europe’s largest cultural and popular festivals! Over the course of ten days, the Belgian city lives, breathes and sleeps music, theatre and street artists. The festival is made up of four large and internationally famous festivals: The Street Theatre Festival, the Puppetbusker Festival, the ‘10 Days Off’ Dance Festival and the Blue Note Festival. All of Ghent is transformed into one big party and many Belgian beers are consumed by those that attend the 'Gentse Feesten', the festival's official name.
