Teatro Argentina is one of the most beautiful and important theatres of Rome. In 1732, this magnificent building was ordered by the influential Sforza Cesarini family. For years, the theatre has served as a stage for many famous operas such as Verdi. Roman ladies dressed in charming evening dresses and gentlemen in a smart suit used to experience very entertaining nights here. In 1816, this was the place of the unfortunate début of Rossini's Barber of Seville. The composer of the piece was insulted by an ungrateful audience and chased through the streets of Rome.
