London Zoo lies at the northern perimeter of magnificent Regent's Park and is home to over 650 exotic and fascinating species of animal, from gorillas to penguins. A must-see is the astonishing Web of Life, where you can observe 65 different animals going about their diverse daily activities. London Zoo is the the world's first scientific zoo. Opened in 1828 for scientific study, it was subsequently opened to the public in 1847. Interesting fact: London Zoo features regularly in films and television programmes. A scene from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was filmed in the reptile house!
